President Xi Jinping’s proposal to build a community with a shared future for mankind demonstrates the vision and broad-mindedness of a leader of a major power, answering the question of where humanity is headed. It aims to tell the world that humanity’s enemies are not each other, but war, poverty, hunger, and injustice. Overcoming these challenges cannot be achieved through individual efforts or by remaining isolated; it requires unity, cooperation, and global solidarity. Isolation leads to helplessness, while unity brings strength.
On March 8, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, elaborated on the lofty goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind at a press conference during the Two Sessions.
Wang Yi pointed out that humanity is currently in an era fraught with challenges. Looking back at history, no matter what difficulties the world faces, there have always been pioneers relentlessly pursuing ideals and enlightenment. President Xi Jinping’s proposal to build a community with a shared future for mankind demonstrates the vision and broad-mindedness of a leader of a major power, answering the question of where humanity is headed. It aims to tell the world that humanity’s enemies are not each other, but war, poverty, hunger, and injustice. Overcoming these challenges cannot be achieved through individual efforts or by remaining isolated; it requires unity, cooperation, and global solidarity. Isolation leads to helplessness, while unity brings strength. People around the world are increasingly recognizing the contemporary value and power of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, which acts like a lighthouse, illuminating humanity’s path forward.
Wang Yi stated that the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind also reflects China’s responsibility as a major power and its historical mission to the world. The Chinese people have always had a vision of a world where all under heaven are interconnected and pursue a world of great harmony. The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the rise of a great power with 1.4 billion people will never replicate the old path of great power rivalry and expansion. Instead, we will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development and promote all countries to jointly pursue peaceful development, building a world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and a clean and beautiful environment.
Wang Yi said, “We are pleased to see that in recent years, the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind has gained increasing popularity and support from more than 100 countries and international organizations, nearly 80% of international public opinion, and more than 40 countries and regional organizations have joined the ranks of building a community with a shared future. This once again demonstrates that ‘a just cause will find many supporters,’ and that a just cause will surely receive the support of all countries and gather the strength of the people.”
Wang Yi emphasized that humanity’s future is bright, but this bright future will not come automatically. Building a community with a shared future for mankind is both a beautiful vision and a historical process that requires the continuous struggle and joint efforts of generations. China will work hand in hand with all parties with firm conviction and pragmatic actions to continuously turn the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind into reality.
