Short intro to Xinjiang by Jeff

Xinjiang is huge, 17% of the country’s landmass, 1.66 million square kilometers (China’s total land area = 9.6 million), which is three times the size of France, or bigger than Alaska in North America. It is mostly desert, mountains, basins and high plateaus, with beautiful lakes. Weather is harsh here. When we arrived on 5 August, the temperature was 41 degrees. In the winter, it can drop to minus twenty.

For our one-month Red Tour adventure in Xinjiang, we will get a far west as Aksu and as far south as Korla. It is already starting out as an amazing lunar cycle.

The Uyghur people in China are members of the Turkic language group, of which there are many derivatives, starting in Turkey, of course, and there’s a swath going from there to the east through South Central Asia. They are, at varying degrees, mutually understood, from 0 to maybe 75%, depending on the dialect. For example, Turkish and Uyghur are 30% mutually comprehensible.

So Uyghurs are, in fact, Turkic people.

Xinjiang’s population is 26 million, 58% Muslim. The capital is Urumuqi. It has four million residents. Hami has 670,000 citizens. Shihezi, Karamay, Korla, Yining and Aksu are other cities we are visiting each have about 500,000 souls.

West to east, Xinjiang has common international borders with Pakistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia. Internally, it borders the provinces of Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet, north to south. It is now a hugely important nexus in Asia’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), connecting the rest of China with the rest of Mackinder’s Heartland. On that note,

Not only industry and commerce, Xinjiang is a massive producer of high value crops, including a huge variety of fruits, vegetables and cotton. We see lush, green fields and orchards stretching kilometer after kilometer, thanks to one of the biggest water canal and irrigation systems in the world, starting in the Altai Mountains, over 400km away. The BRI has made it possible to ship large quantities of this produce all over Asia.

Jeff’s comments (Amir’s photos of Nine Dragon Lake below)

Everywhere Amir and I go in Xinjiang, be it in a car, in a train or on a plane, we see greenery and water all over the place. And this is one of the largest deserts in the world.

But, because China is Communist-Socialist-Confucist-Daoist-Buddhist, they have the money, the resources and the desire to help the people better their lives, by making sure they have cheap, fresh, clean water everywhere for agriculture, domestic and industrial use.

We first thought about this when we were in Karamay, where we visited a public park called Nine Dragon Lake, with a few pictures below.

We did a little research while we were there. This artificial lake’s water comes 400km away from the Altay Mountains, on the Russian border. Of course, all the canals and pipes to get the water there are not just for this small lake, but are for agriculture, industry and domestic use through the areas where the water is transported.

Afterwards, I did a little bit of research about the water situation in Xinjiang. My previous article was entitled,

Amir&Jeff’s Excellent China Adventure #48: Karamay, Xinjiang- Oil, black gold, XJ-prime brought people here by the thousands… With 34 awesome photos!

https://radiosinoland.com/2026/08/22/amirjeffs-excellent-china-adventure-48-karamay-xinjiang-oil-black-gold-xj-prime-brought-people-here-by-the-thousands-with-34-awesome-photos/

And this article is entitled

Black gold brought them here… Fresh, clean, cheap water keeps millions living and working in Xinjiang…

Because without the water, Xinjiang would not be the same place. No water equals a small population, little agriculture and industry.

Water is also being brought in from Xizang (Tibet) in huge 5-6 meter diameter pipes, because Xizang has more water than it knows what to do with.

Thus, everywhere we go, especially in an airplane like yesterday, from Korla to Yining (articles forthcoming), we saw hundreds of kilometers of green fields everywhere, most of it is corn. Can you believe it? Irrigated corn in the desert? Here in the middle of the desert, irrigated corn is being grown on many, many thousands of hectares. It’s just unbelievable. Where else in the world can irrigated corn be profitable on such a large scale?

When I was living and working here in China from 1990 to 1997, the first four years I was the director of the US Grains Council, to promote the export of corn to China. American corn farmers were licking their chops, expecting to sell billions of dollars of corn to China’s ever-growing poultry and swine sectors, for the country’s evermore prosperous people. As you can see in the chart below, that’s not going to happen very often, in part thanks to Xinjiang’s incredible output,

In 2021-2022, import prices were cheap from the US and Brazil, China wants to maintain a seven-year supply of key inputs (corn, soybeans, etc.), the price was right, so Baba Beijing jumped on it. Otherwise, US imports are measured in millions of dollars annually (for specialty varieties for food processing), not billions.

Irrigated corn can’t happen anywhere else on such a large scale, like in Xinjiang, where electricity is so cheap, because State Grid, the utility company for China is owned by the people and electricity costs are five to seven times less than what they are in the United States and Europe. After gravity, electric pumps must move all that water to where it needs to go.

Therefore, the Chinese can afford to irrigate corn in the middle of the Xinjiang desert.

Why does Baba Beijing require seven years’ reserves of essential inputs?  Because sooner than later, the West’s Judeans will trigger a war with China. Why go to war with China? Talmud-Tanakhs want forever wars and usury, which go hand-in-hand.  Plus, they can’t stand the fact that they are not extracting all the wealth out of China, like they did for 110 years, from 1839 to 1949, until liberation by the Communist Party of China and Mao Zedong.

The statistics below are unbelievable. There are  671 reservoirs and 160,000 kilometers of water canals in Xinjiang. That’s four times the circumference of the Earth. Let that figure sink in for a while.

It not just to irrigate corn. We’ve seen everything from corn to cotton, grapes, fruit trees (apples, pomegranates, figs, plums, pears, etc.), vegetables, melons, squash – you name it, they are growing it here. All thanks to one of the biggest water transport and delivery systems in human history – maybe the biggest.

I know this is only possible, because China is Communist-Socialist-Confucist-Daoist-Buddhist.  It hasn’t happened anywhere else, at least in modern history, except in one other socialist country, and that was Libya. Muammar Gaddafi was building tens of thousands of kilometers of water canals in the desert, just like they do here.

Guess who did it? Well, it was Chinese workers and engineers, and you can bet that many of them came from Xinjiang, to lend their 70 years of greenification experience. There were 35,000 Chinese living and working in Libya, when it was destroyed by the Talmud-Tanakh West, killing Muammar Gaddafi, because it was a socialist paradise success story, and they don’t want you to see communist-socialist prosperity. Libyans were turning their deserts into vast agricultural production zones. All of that, of course, was destroyed by Judeo-Western imperialism and their 200MT of gold reserves were flown to the Jewish City of London’s trillionaire banksters.

The Chinese Nation should take careful note of what happened to Libyans, because Judeans are dying to do the same thing to them.

Xinjiang’s facts are below. Take a look at them. It’s pretty amazing.

The other thing that’s fascinating is, because they have all this fresh water that’s being used all over this massive desert, Xinjiang is also a major fish producer! I found the statistics for that, below. Hundreds of thousands of tons of fish are being harvested here in desert Xinjiang, again thanks to the XPCC’s incredible irrigation system, which has been developed since the 1950s,

Amir&Jeff’s Excellent China Adventure #43: China’s military reclamation and border defense system “XPCC” has transformed Xinjiang into an agricultural, economic and developmental powerhouse. Amir sounds off on what it all means. With 17 photos.

Conclusion

Muslims here in China have a good life. They’ve got lots of fish, meat and eggs, they’ve got lots of vegetables and fruit. They have cheap water and electricity. Water in China costs about 1/8 to 1/10 of what water costs in France, which has all been privatized. Of course here in China, the water utilities are all people-owned.

Everyone we talk to owns their own house and making babies. No slums, no homelessness.

So, Muslims have a great life here. The cities are beautiful, they’re clean, they’re green-green-green, organized, safe and peaceful. Economic activity and commerce are humming. The infrastructure is unbelievable. You can fly anywhere you want, you can take trains/buses anywhere you want. Airlines, trains and buses, all being people-owned, it’s dirt cheap.

Amir and I are here, boots on the ground, in (small) Muslim cities (so far, Hami, Urumuqi, Shihezi, Karamay, Korla and Yining – further on to Horgos, Nileke and Qiaorma), talking to many, many people. We speak Mandarin.

We’re not sitting in plush offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris and Berlin, getting well-paid by Judeo-Mossad-CIA-MI6 to be well-paid slut presstitutes, to win phony awards and bloviate on CNN, BBC, MSNBC  and Fox News.

Everything that these paid Judeo-whores write about Xinjiang and China is Sinophobic propaganda,

You see any of these names? Remember, well-paid whores make a lot of money. Don’t drink their vomit. Use Radio Sinoland for real-life, on-the-streets China!

Amir and I live and work in China. I’ve been here for 18 years, Amir 11 years. We can attest that the vomit being spewed in your face about the persecution of China’s Muslims (and Tibetans for that matter), the oppression of Uyghur people and their enslavement in Xinjiang to pick cotton, or locked up in concentration camps – all of that is just absolute, total Judeo-Big Lie Propaganda Machine hysteria to turn you against China, its 1.4 billion people and their fascinating, 5,000-year story.

Otherwise, you might start asking why your country cannot have some sort of socialism for the benefit of the 99%, at the expense of the Talmud-Tanakh 1%! The Judeo-City of London is scared to death of this happening…

Xinjiang’s water and fish stats

All artificial channels in Xinjiang are designed for agricultural irrigation and water diversion, not for shipping; while natural rivers like the Irtysh River have historically supported short-distance, seasonal navigation, there is no kilometerage of artificial canals dedicated to waterborne transport.

Official Statistics on Irrigation Channels

Backbone channel network (main canals, branch canals, and distributary canals)

Latest official figure (2026): Total length of the three-level network exceeds 160,000 km (including some terminal field-level canal systems)

The 160,000 km figure includes distributary canals reaching the fields and some farm-level canals, representing the total scale of artificial irrigation channels across the region.

Supporting Irrigation and Water Conservancy Facilities

Reservoirs: 671

Embankments and bank protection works: Over 8,000 km

Total irrigation area: Over 6,600,000 hectares (= 66,000km2), of which high-efficiency water-saving irrigation area is more than 4,700,000ha (47,000km2) 。66,000km2 is as much area as Europe’s Ireland/Lithuania or USA’s West Virginia/South Carolina.

Aquaculture

Xinjiang Aquatic Product Output (Fish, Shrimp, Crab, etc.)

Official final statistics for the full year of 2026 are not yet available (scheduled for release in early 2027; source: Xinjiang Daily).

  1. Data released for the first half of 2026 (including the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps – XPCC)

Total aquatic product output (Jan–Jun 2026): 81,400 tonnes (up 8.78% year-on-year).

Aquaculture output: 75,900 tonnes.

Wild-capture output: 5,500 tonnes.

Of this, cold-water salmon and trout (commonly known as “Xinjiang salmon”) output for the first half of the year: 6,200 tonnes.

Based on the growth rate from the first half of the year, the estimated total aquatic product output for the full year of 2026 is approximately 223,000–228,000 tonnes.

  1. Confirmed full-year data: 2025 (official communiqué; source: Xinjiang Daily):

Total annual aquatic product output: 206,000 tonnes (up 7.0% year-on-year).

Aquaculture: 189,500 tonnes.

Wild capture: 16,500 tonnes.

Industry Overview

Xinjiang’s aquatic industry is dominated by aquaculture (accounting for over 90% of output), with wild capture from natural lakes playing a smaller role.

Major species: Carp, grass carp, silver carp, and bighead carp. Specialty species: Salmon/trout, peled (broad whitefish), Japanese smelt, and zander (pike-perch). Rapid growth is seen in “desert seafood” farming—such as Pacific white shrimp and river crabs—raised in saline-alkali water.

“15th Five-Year Plan” goal: Strive to reach an annual aquatic product output of 250,000 tonnes across the region.

Note: Aquatic products include fish, shrimp, and crabs; fish alone account for approximately 85–90% of the total output.
