China’s civil war
Okay. Amir and I are on our excellent tour to study the history of the civil war in China.
It was everybody against Mao and the communists – including Uncle Slaughter
We are at the Hengyang War Of Resistance Memorial Hall, and you can see, obviously, this is a very graphic representation of the communists, who fought against not only the Japanese, but also the KMT, Chiang Kai- Shek and the Americans after 1945.
100,000 US Marines couldn’t do it
There were 100,000 US Marines here, a very deep secret of history that nobody wants to talk about, because the Americans, along with the Japanese and along with Chiang Kai-Shek and the fascist KMT, got their asses kicked by the Red Army and the citizens, led by Mao Zedong.
The man you’ve been brainwashed to fear and loathe is here, there, everywhere in China
I just want to read and again, right up there in red, there is Mao Zedong with his famous writing.
This is the guy you think killed tens of millions of people and couldn’t kill enough and wanted to kill more, but just didn’t have time. Yet, he is venerated and respected here in China everywhere you go. And this particular saying states,
Preserve Hengyang’s city/the land,
It is an act of bravery.
I guess is the best way to put it.
So, we’re gonna take a tour now.
2-Quick walk-through with commentary.

Chinese knew their only salvation was Mao and the communists
As I was saying, this is the second floor of this exhibition. I’ll just do a quick walk through.
The Chinese were sick of the of the treachery of the Americans, the British and the French. They were sick of the brutality and fascism of the Japanese. And they were betrayed by Chiang Kai-Shek and the KMT, who spent more time trying to kill them than trying to defeat the Japanese, which he thought the Americans should do.
Truman and US Marines were defeated too
They of course had to fight the Americans. After 1945, when Truman sent a hundred thousand Marines and the entire Pacific Navy and Air Force, to try to defeat the communists. And the communists just rolled over all three of these opposing groups.
Tour groups flood Chinese museums
There’s obviously a group I’m trying to get past them.
The Chinese were sick and tired of being sick and tired of the West brutal Century of Humiliation, 1839-1949
The Chinese were sick of being fed with Western heroin and morphine and opium. They wanted their freedom. They wanted communism, they wanted socialism.
The battle of Hengyang was a pivotal moment in Chinese red history
And this is about a very famous battle, where the communists held off the Japanese for 45 days, right near here in Hengyang. Even though they were heavily outnumbered by the Japanese, the Japanese could not defeat them, and they held them off. It was a huge loss for the Japanese because they could not defeat the communists, and a lot of lives were lost.
China’s civil war is the longest and bloodiest in history
And then there is a presentation about the bravery of the Chinese people. 39 million people died to see that the communist-socialist revolution succeeded (note: correct number is 36.4 million).
Uncle Slaughter stabbed China in the back at Versailles 1919
There’s Stalin and Churchill. Of course, this all started back with the Treaty of Versailles after World War One, when the Chinese were betrayed by the Americans…
Obviously, a memorial with the candles…
Did you know 160,000 Chinese were in France in in WWI to help defeat the Axis Powers
… Were betrayed by the Americans, who had promised the Chinese that if they sent 160,000 Chinese to the front in World War One, without whom the Allies would have lost to get lost against Germany. Again, almost no one knows this; it’s completely buried in (Western) history.
Uncle Slaughter does it every time
If they did that, they would get back Shandong Province from Germany. But as soon as the war was over, at the Treaty of Versailles, the Americans betrayed the Chinese and “gave” Shandong to the Japanese instead.
Uncle Slaughter’s betrayal inspired the May 4th Movement, which helped usher in communism in 1921
That started the May 4th movement in 1919, which was the big step to fight against Western imperialism and colonialism.
And there we go. We’re back to the entrance.
3-Veterans and martyrs are revered all over the world. China is no different.
Transcript
Veterans are revered in China
Just like everywhere else in the world, veterans are highly revered here in China.
China’s WWII Victory Parade is on September 3rd
When they have the Victory over Japan Parade in Beijing on Tiananmen Square on September 3 later this year, Putin will show up. Vladimir Putin and a number of other world leaders will be there.
Blood and Fire Hengyang
Any of these who are still survivors, in this documentary where they interviewed surviving veterans. The title of it is, Blood and Fire Hengyang, because of that infamous forty-five-day battle with the Japanese, heavily outnumbered, and yet they the Japanese could not, could not defeat them, and the Japanese finally gave up.
The Chinese do many documentaries about their history
So, they’re doing all these series of interviews in this documentary, with these incredible men who survived it, to recount what they experienced during the revolutionary wars in China, especially this one here in Hengyang.
4-Who was Sun Yat-Sen and why do both the Mainland and Taiwan Province revere him?
Transcript
Sun Yat-Sen got the anti-Western ball rolling…
This is a one hundredth anniversary plaque of the Whampoa Military School down in Guangzhou near Shenzhen. And that is Sun Yat-Sen. He was the man who was instrumental in helping bring down the Qing dynasty in 1912.
Sun Yat-Sen founded the Republic of China
He started the Republic of China (ROC), along the lines of democratic socialism, but it did not work. It was chaos from 1912, because, of course, the Japanese were occupying the northern part of the country, and the country was on (Western) heroin, morphine, and opium.
… Deus Ex Machina Mao Zedong and the communists
Sun was a visionary, but he was not a great organizer like Mao Zedong was. Sun actually died in 1925 of liver cancer or pancreatic cancer, so he did not live to see his vision. It was in 1921 that the Communist Party of China formed. Mao Zedong and nine others formed it, because they realized that a Western, republican style government was just not going work for what the people needed.
Chiang Kai-Shek took the ROC mantel to Taiwan Province
And so, today, Chiang Kai-Shek took The Republic Of China to Taiwan after he got kicked out in 1949, even with America’s navy, army, marines, and everything backing him. They just could not defeat the communists.
I’ve written about all this in The China Trilogy, if you’re interested. That’s why Taiwan is called the Republic Of China, because Chiang continued the ideals of Sun Yat-Sen.
Sun Yat-Sen has street cred on both sides of the Taiwan Straits
Interestingly, we have a statue of Sun Yat-Sen in our little town of Puli in Taiwan Province. Not only is he acclaimed by the Taiwanese, but he’s also acclaimed by the Mainland Chinese. Why? He’s considered to be the initial founder of China’s freedom from Western oppression and exploitation.
5- Every year, many ten of millions of Chinese visit communist revolution sites to pay their respects, honor the fallen and give thanks to the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), for the good lives they have today.

Groups hold up printed banners all the time in Chinese museums
So, here are some people from a region, Jiaoyang, who are members of the Communist Party of China (CPC). They have come to see the Hengyang War of Resistance Memorial Hall. This goes on all the time. You see groups like this all the time. You can see the little red flags on the front of their t-shirts. That shows that they’re members of the CPC. It’s a party that you’ve been told to hate and fear.

Everywhere you go in China’s museums, memorials and parks, the statues and wall frescoes are unique, cast bronze works, with many wax and stone statues. Lots of money, time and dedication to do it right! The Chinese people are gaga for their cultural venues and demand the best.
The entrance to the Hengyang Resistance War Memorial Hall. The Chinese people paid dearly with their blood and treasure to get rid of Western, Japanese and KMT fascists. The vertical quote on the wall in red is by Mao Zedong and says, “Preserve the city and land of Hengyang”.
