Just to show you how much the Chinese use high speed trains, and these are trains going 300-350km an hour, about 210-240 miles an hour. Here are the trains going from Shenzhen to Guangzhou, which is the capital of Guangdong Province. You can see that they are all about an hour or so long. They start at 06:10 in the morning, for about 70-75 RMB; that’s about $€8.50.

And so there they are. Look, look at that. There are one, two, three, four that that take off simultaneously. Uh, at 16:14. There’s three at 06:53, three at 07:05. And it’s the same train number, so they’ve got three trains traveling together. And it just goes on and on and on. There are trains taking off about every two to three minutes. As you can see here. And this starts at six in the morning and goes until 11 at night. That comes out to about 400 trains a day, leaving this one train station in Shenzhen. Just for this station.

You take another route, like I’m going to go to Changsha tonight, or if you go to Xiamen or you go to another city, I can safely say that hundreds, maybe not over a thousand trains leave this one station a day. And there are six train stations in Shenzhen alone. And this is replicated all over China city after city, region after region.

You  see how they use high speed trains going 300km an hour, like buses.

It’s just unbelievable. Voilà.
