Overview

Nonstop anti-corruption policy

    1. When Xi took the helm in 2013, the country suffered from a deep-rooted severe corruption problem at all levels. Corruption was named as the single most critical issue facing the country. Most citizens were deeply frustrated and lost much faith in the government and the party. Many left the country including this author.
    2. Xi has run the longest anti-corruption campaign in Chinese history (ongoing to this day). In his first 5 years, over 1 million officials from national to local government, state-owned companies, banks, and military were prosecuted and punished. This included over 300 vice minister level and above officials out of roughly 2000 in total: 1 member of the Poliburo Standing committee (same offical rank as Xi), 2 vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission (the most senior military posts after Xi himself as commander in chief), 7 cabinet ministers (including the Railway Minister who was sentenced to death).
    3. More vice-minister and above level officials were removed and prosecuted in the 5 years than the previous 60 combined.
    4. The anti-corruption drive continues to this day. In the last 12 months, the foreign minister, 2 defence ministers (the incumbent and his predecessor), 9 generals in the PLA Rocket Force, numerous SOE CEOs, senior bankers, hospital administrators, etc. have been removed for corruption.
    5. For the average citizen, the issue has changed from their biggest concern to the one with highest satisfaction over government work in the last decade.

Report #6

Comment: the Golden Triangle, which I have visited, is a Mossad-CIA-MI6 heroin and organized crime cesspool, going back to 1945. Fraud is very profitable, easy to do and is a catalyst for many other evil ventures. Luckily, Myanmar is cooperating with China to round up the perps.

1-China charges Myanmar Golden Triangle syndicate suspects with murder and telecoms fraud

The 39 suspects include 16 Myanmese nationals and members of the notorious Ming family, which operated in the border region of Kokang

Comment: medical corruption knows no bounds in the West and it is a huge problem around the world. Baba Beijing is taking down medi-crooks left and right.

2-40,000 punished in China’s medical corruption crackdown, including over 350 top figures

Anti-corruption campaign brings down senior health officials, hospital directors, academics, and pharmaceutical company executives

While not nearly the problem it is in the West, Baba Beijing is going after homegrown child traffickers

3-Medical staff in N.China’s Datong suspected of involvement in infant trafficking; joint investigation group formed

Comment: China’s military was sqeaky clean during the Mao Era, but quickly become an open sewer after his death and with the Deng-Era Reform and Opening Up. In the 1990s, I did business with the PLA and we lived in a PLA compound. It was more of a hustling business than a fighting force. Luckily army officer Xi Jinping continues to clean out the Sino-Augean stables. Fighting corruption is forever.

4-In less than 2 years, 14 of China’s military lawmakers have been ousted

Growing number of dismissals reflects ‘steadily intensifying efforts’ to address corruption, according to analyst

Comment: American Mario Cavolo has been living and working in China since 2000, so he really knows how the country operates from the ground up.

Comment: AI offers lots of opportunity to create fraud, including images. In fact, China’s National People’s Congress is passing legislation that will require all media fully or partially AI-generated to state this fact. Citizens deserve to know what’s real and fake. Will the West pass similar laws. Naaaaaah.

6-Chinese netizen detained for fabricating link between AI-generated ‘buried boy images’ and Xizang earthquake

https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202501/1326681.shtml

Comment: this corruption below exposes the often too-cozy relationship be the military and academia, which is a problem around the world. The difference is China is tackling it.

7-Chinese universities given military procurement ban for rigging bidding process

Two Chengdu-based establishments have been banned by the PLA’s cyberspace branch for three years

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/military/article/3294441/chinese-universities-given-military-procurement-ban-rigging-bidding-process

Comment: China has some of the strictest data collection and facial recognition laws globally and they keep tightening the screws, to prevent corrupt practices and illegal use of personal information and images Chinese citizens are very demanding about these two issues and Baba Beijing delivers the protection they want. It’s called Chinese democracy.

8-China unveils action plan to combat illegal data collection and sales in a bid to ensure data security

https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202501/1326926.shtml

Comment: not only Myanmar, but Thailand, along with Myanmar is joining hands to fight telecom fraud that targets Chinese citizens.

9-China and Thailand detain 12 crime ring members suspected of trafficking actor to Myanmar

News of the joint crime-fighting effort comes after top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi urges Asean countries to crack down on cross-border fraud

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3295193/china-and-thailand-detain-12-crime-ring-members-suspected-trafficking-actor-myanmar

Comment: Baba Beijing is always assessing its anti-corruption drive. Last year, it saw that some unscrupulous actors were using the system to attack personal and professional enemies. Now the fight against corruption is both external and internal.

10-Big drop in internal investigations into China’s corruption busters in 2024

Despite the fall, the effort to root out ‘bad apples’ in the inspection body remained at a ‘high intensity’
