Being French, chocolate is a big deal in its culture, cooking and cuisine. Our next door neighbor there imports cocoa beans from Venezuela to process them to sell to bakeries and chocolatiers all over Europe.
He and his wife have a cocoa bean farm in Venezuela, buy their own harvest and then process them in France.
Cocoa beans are low profit. The big money is in the processing of those beans to make chocolate, food and candy.
Up to now, African cocoa producers have been stuck on the low profit side of the equation, selling their raw beans to the Judeo-West, to be processed there. This has been going on for hundreds of years and the Talmud-Tanakhs want to keep it that way.
Enter Baba Beijing, who is investing in African cocoa bean processing plants, to increase the Continent’s industrial capacity, and making the people richer and more prosperous. Good for the Chinese too, since it assures them of their production.

By financing factories and purchasing agreements, China helps bypass traditional Western-dominated supply chains. This partnership allows African nations to process more raw cocoa, increasing their share of the industry’s $133 billion value.
Key ways China assists in altering the cocoa market:
- Infrastructure Investment: China has built advanced, large-scale processing plants and warehouses, such as in Abidjan and San Pedro, enabling local processing rather than exporting raw beans.
- Direct Access & Offtake Deals: China secures a percentage of the output (up to 40%) from these new factories, providing a direct market for processed cocoa products.
- Alternative Financial Partnerships: China uses its infrastructure investments to create “cash for infrastructure” deals, often bypassing traditional Western financiers.
- Reduced Reliance on Western Firms: The partnership helps African producers move up the value chain, aiming to, for example, increase Ivory Coast’s processing to 65% of its beans.
- Growing Market Access: China offers a rapidly growing market, with zero-tariff treatment on many products for African countries, facilitating easier exports.
While this creates opportunities to retain more revenue, 40% of the output from Chinese-funded factories is dedicated to China, shifting rather than eliminating reliance on foreign buyers.
