Now, they will spend countless man-hours and huge chunks of their budgets to make their tires #1 in endurance, safety AND be cheaper than world competition. That’s how the Chinese work and succeed.

Remarks: western brands inflated prices due to heavy investment in Bullshitting performance via marketing investment, CEOs personal incentive to cut cost, jack up profits, Bullshitting to the market to inflate stock values for personal contract period benefits, while Chinese brand invested in R&D and volume sales through less greedy markup, and make their profit through economics of scale.

The Linglong Sport Master, a Chinese tire retailing for roughly €96 ($111)—significantly cheaper than premium alternatives—stunned the industry by outperforming Michelin and Continental in Auto Bild magazine’s wet braking tests, beating them by up to 2.5 meters. While offering superior stopping, the tire had the worst wear performance in ADAC testing.
Key Findings from Recent Evaluations:
- Superior Wet Braking: In Auto Bild tests, the Linglong Sport Master outperformed the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 by approximately 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) in wet conditions.
- Dry Braking Performance: The tire finished third in dry braking, stopping roughly 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) sooner than the Michelin tire.
- Significant Cost Savings: The tires are roughly 50% cheaper than premium competitors, with prices around €96 ($111).
- Poor Wear/Longevity: ADAC (German automobile club) testing revealed that the tire had the worst wear performance, with an estimated lifespan of only about 16,000 miles (approx. 25,750 km).
- Market Disruption: The performance indicates a shift where, while some cheaper tires still have durability issues, top-tier Chinese brands are matching or exceeding Western counterparts in safety metrics.
Contextual Factors:
- Testing Consistency: While some tests (like Auto Bild’s) show high performance, other evaluations (like older 2014 tests) still show major Western brands like Pirelli outperforming them.
- Targeted Performance: The high performance in breaking might be specialized, whereas other tires offer better all-around performance and longevity.
