Here are my comments in Radio Sinoland chart and table form. China’s electricity generation is increasing exponentially. Uncle Slaughter and Evil Union have flatlined for 27 years, an entire generation. AI needs massive amounts of electricity. What else is there to say?

Roughly half of all planned U.S. data centers slated for 2026 are facing delays or outright cancellations. Analysts attribute this to a structural mismatch between AI infrastructure ambitions and real-world limits, driven by massive energy grid constraints, severe supply chain bottlenecks for critical equipment, and mounting local opposition. - The Power Bottleneck: AI data centers have immense electricity requirements, which is a major challenge for the current U.S. power grid. Out of roughly 12 to 16 gigawatts of planned power-consuming capacity, only 5 gigawatts are currently under construction.
- Supply Chain Delays: The hardware pipeline is severely constrained. Developers face massive hurdles in sourcing critical equipment like step-up transformers, which frequently suffer from wait times extending well over a year.
- Grid Capacity & High Exposure Risks: Aside from lack of generation capacity, more than half of all planned data center developments are situated in regions highly exposed to severe convective storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes.
- Local Backlash: Projects are experiencing significant pushback from local communities. Residents near facilities have raised concerns regarding severe water contamination, well depletion, excessive noise, and the diversion of power resources. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
