My introduction
Please enjoy my latest library and research project about Chinese Thought and Philosophy. Like all of my libraries, it will continue to expand. In any case, there’s already a lifetime of learning here. I cannot read all of this, and I don’t expect you to. But, if there is one particular philosopher who does interest you, you may want to dive in a little bit deeper. If you don’t have a profound interest and just want a nice general review, then go to the General or Mixed Texts section, where I have created a printable, eight-page cheat sheet that essentially resumés, all of the philosophers listed below. Short, sweet and info-packed, I put a lot of work into it, and I keep updating it.
Also, since spiritual journeys are not done in a vacuum, I included my heart-to-heart story about learning Eastern Thought, so that you can have my journey to ponder.
Under the General or Mixed Texts, there are three short pieces, 108 Adages of Wisdom by Shen Yan. It is Buddhist-oriented. Then there’s an article about in Global Times about how Chinese Thought and philosophers still influence China today. That’s one thing that really impresses me here, is just how much modern Chinese know about their many philosophers, going back thousands of years. Finally, a fun one is The Governing Principles of Ancient China, which is focused on Confucius and Laozi. There are 360 quotes, with the idea to read one a day for a year. Great idea before bedtime.
Mao Zedong was an incredibly prolific writer and speaker. The best place to go is the Mao Encyclopedia for Dummies. The China Writers’ Group, which I head, worked on it for several months. It truly is humanity’s ultimate online resource for everything about Mao Zedong.
Some people find it curious that I include him in this list, but when you learn about Mao Zedong, you will see that he is definitely one of China’s greatest philosophers – ever.
This library is really a fun way to get a taste of Chinese thought and philosophy. All these books are free for you to download and use.
I included two of my other related posts, therefore, I’m not going to take a lot of your time with a long introduction. Enjoy as much or a little as you desire!

PS: the reason there are repeated texts is that everything depends on the translator and each has their own style, interpretation and biases. Having done translations from Chinese, I can tell you that the language is very broad. A text or poem can be analyzed in a number of different ways. That’s why you may like version “X” better and another person prefers translation “Z”.
